Delftware Octagonal Dish

Irish, Dublin, 18th c.

Tin-glazed eartherware. The octagonal shape and the foliate scrolls on the rim are frequently found on Dublin delftware. Interestingly, the measurements are precise in cms but not in inches -- I don't know if Dublin used the metric system in this period. But it's a very pretty thing. Plenty of rim frittering, but good condition with no restoration.

6-3/8" diam. 1-1/4" deep. (16cm x 3cm)
