Joined and Paneled Coffer

English, 1600-1625

Oak. A good, early coffer with striking nulled decoration. The wide muntin with guilloches is from the Elizabethan repertoire. The wide stiles are another early feature and they're decorated with leaf-filled channel moldings. A collector-grade piece of a type that you don't often see.
