Chamberstick

French or English, 1700-25

Brass. Seamed, straight-sided socket with extraction hole, peen-riveted to the base. Handle with heart-shaped cut out. Good lathe-turning marks on underside. "5" (?) engraved on handle. Heavy casting. It's plain, simple, early -- and as right as rain. We found a good thing! Prov: from a meticulously curated private New England collection. Super original condition.

10" across handle, pan 4-1/4" diam.
