Pair of Male Figures

Franco-Flemish, c.1650

Walnut (or oak?) Superbly carved figures probably for a Guild display. One holds a quill pen and a book, the other a board: members of Scrivenors and Cabinetmakers Guilds perhaps? Both wear ceremonial, classical gowns. Pegs in the backs where they were mounted to a backboard. Excellent, polished patina with rich color. Very good condition, Notch cut in back of one and edge frittering on bases -- nothing to worry about.

12" h, bases c. 3-1/4" sq.
