Hearth Blowpipe

American, 18th c. and 19th c.

Iron. A perfect example of repurposing: an 18th-century musket barrel repurposed in the 19th century as a blowpipe to fire up the embers in your hearth. We used it for many years when we had a hearth and it did its job every time. The fork on the end is useful for shifting the logs as you blow them. Unusual, if not unique. Aged uncleaned surface. Good condition.
