Stoneware Jug

Dutch, 1650-1700

Salt-glazed stoneware. An honest, utilitarian piece with good marks from the wheel. The salt glaze had a few iron filings added to give a partial red-brown color with darker speckles. All in all, an attractive surface -- turn it 180 degrees and you'll have a differently colored jug to enjoy. Minor surface chips and glaze wear, no restoration.

7-3/4" h. 5-1/4" diam.
