Mini-Miniature Pitcher

Dutch, Mid-18th c.

Earthenware The smallest I've seen -- any smaller and I'd hardly see it at all! Probably made for display in the kitchen of a miniature house. 17th-century Dutch silversmiths produced many household untensils of this scale for display in meticulously made miniature houses that were not toys for children, but objects of wonder for adults. Pottery miniatures are rare. Good condition with minor glaze wear, no restoration.

1-1/4" h.
