Early Pewter Measure

Scottish, 1690-1710

Pewter. Pot-bellied body standing on tall "capstan" foot. Marked: "NR" (maker) and two faux silver marks of leopard's head erased (used on silver 1687-1720) and rooster. Cotterell calls this form "extremely rare." (p.116b.) Marks recorded but not identified in Markham, (p.166.) Excellent original condition.
