Large Lidded Flagon

German, 1792

Pewter. It's big, it's beautiful and it'll hold a boatload of beer. And there's a bonus if you're a baker, it bears the arms of a German Bakers' Guild, complete with heraldic pretzels!! Happy lions rampant supporting the pretzels. Dated 1792, monogrammed JAR JAK, Underside of lid marked with coat of arms and inscriptions in German. Old, dull finish. Very similar to an example in the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia Expected dings and dents, especially around the foot, but basically good condition, no restoration.

10-1/4" tall, 5-1/2" diam base, 4" diam top.
