Rush Light and Candle Holder

Irish, 1680-1720

Iron. If you like the primitive look, look closely at this primitive. Obviously made by a rural blacksmith. Note the uneven spirals on the candle arm and how the rod is hammered from a spiral into a long cone. And those four tarantula-like legs! Aged surface with good signs of hand-work. The ring-base is typically Irish. Good condition with expected wear to pivot. No repairs or restoration.

12" h, 4" diam.
