Serving Jug

English, 1550-1600

Bronze. A big, fat, heavy boy! Not for the faint-hearted or the weak-wristed. Made to hang, but stands perfectly well. Just look at those lovely file marks and the unfinished seam -- very provincial English. Probably made for a village inn and just right for your country home. Serving jugs were not meant to be set down -- the servants holding them were kept constantly on the go replenishing drinkers' tankards. Good original condition, no restoration.
